From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
